The New York Workers' Compensation Alliance (WCA) recently held a hugely successful fundraiser for Assemblywoman Susan John (D-Rochester), Chairwoman of the New York Assembly Labor Committee where all new workers' compensation legislation is reviewed. Over 100 workers' compensation attorneys and law firms representing injured workers attended this gala event to support one of the main protectors of injured workers in New York State. Our good friends at the Injured Workers' Pharmacy (IWP) helped underwrite the cocktail hour. Thanks IWP!
You can be sure that any much needed 9/11 workers' compensation bill that might become law this year was heavily influenced by Ms. John. We urge all those who support injured workers in their daily struggles to support Assemblywoman Susan John this November.
The following day after the fundraiser, most of the workers' compensation lawyers still present attended the Spring Conference of the Injured Workers Bar Association (IWBA). The attorneys earned continuing legal education credit by reviewing the seminal workers' compensation case of Kelly v State Insurance Fund relating to liens and credits in third party litigation. Quite a successful weekend to say the least.
