New York Workers' Compensation Alliance Endorses Spitzer for Governor
On the eve of Labor Day, the New York Workers' Compensation Alliance has announced it's formal endorsement of Attorney General Eliot Spitzer as the next Governor of New York State. The Workers' Compensation Alliance is a coalition of advocates for over 200,000 injured workers throughout New York State. The Alliance is committed to protecting and improving the benefits available to injured workers under the New York Workers' Compensation Law.
As Attorney General, Eliot Spitzer has exposed insurance company bid rigging scandals and profit gouging which have driven up the cost of workers' compensation for small and big business alike. He seems to understand that the real culprit in escalating workers compensation costs is the insurance industry, not claimants or employers.
Finally, he understands the almost century old historic bargain between employees and employers that the New York Workers' Compensation Law represents. In the wake of the horrific Triangle Factory Fire in lower Manhattan, such a bargain suited both employee and employer interests. Employees gave up their right to sue their employers for on the job injuries in return for prompt medical and wage loss benefits. This decreased litigation and prevented business' from being wiped out by one catastrophic injury.
If Attorney General Spitzer's record of accomplishment standing up to some of the most powerful corporate interests for the benefit of the little guy, including injured workers, is any indication of his intentions as Governor, all New Yorkers (both upstate and downstate) will benefit from his future leadership. The New York Workers' Compensation Alliance proudly endorses Eliot Spitzer for Governor and we ask that all injured and disabled workers in New York State to give him your vote in both the upcoming primary and the election in November.
INJURED WORKERS and to ALL DISABLED...WE MUST VOTE FOR ELIOT SPITZER for GOVERNOR.
This man took on one of the biggest insurance companies AGI and won. Eliot Spitzer believes in justice for ALL. I trust that Eliot Spitzer will REFORM Workers Compensation and listen to our major concerns and see to it that they are swiftly corrected.
I would hope that Mr. Spitzer will replace Board Members that are not medically qualified to even understand the medical terms in an MRI or a report. Board Members that are unjustly finding in favor of an insurer when many EXPERT PHYSICIANS have found differently.OUR medical lives that are put into their hands and non -medical Board Memebers making decisions on OUR medical future. How about that Governor Pataki ?? I wrote to you several times to NO avail.
Then ...REFUSE an INJURED WORKER "DUE PROCESS" of a 12 member BOARD REVIEW. Yes, this is my story and it is happening and very true. It is criminal and WC supervisor, claims reps, and social workers along with the FRAUD DEPT. have been ALL made aware of these problems.
To ALL INJURED WORKERS that believe there is corruption in our New York Workers Compensation System. NYWC has been made aware of the complaints regarding fraudulent IMEs that violate the very workers compensation laws that are suppose to "PROTECT the INJURED WORKER" and the WC System is suppose to investigate claims of FRAUDULENT IMES they ignored my complaints. These pathetic IMES continue to harm injured workers with their less than honest evaluations of INJURED WORKERS.
One IME MOHLER comes all the way from Massachusetts and works out of an agency that sets up appointments for IME (Independent Medical Examiners). This so called DOCTOR has not practiced in OVER 25 years. His practice has been coming to New York ruining peoples lives and goes back to Mass.On his physician profile it states, he is an orthopedic doctor with no specialties. He does NOT list that he is a practicing IME out of NEW YORK or in Mass. I then filed a civil suit and the case was dismissed stating, " there is NO LAW for IME the ten minute eval does not have a doctor patient relationship", so bottom line is they (IME) can do or say whatever they want. They are paid up to $800.00 for the exam and then up to $800.00 to testify at a WC hearing. What a job ! Mohler's physician profile also does NOT state that a civil suit ever existed against him. So I wonder how many other cases he has had or further more other IMES that have violated this WC LAW Sec. 114 (2) and has gotten away with it. I bet it is MANY.
GOOD LUCK ELIOT SPITZER you have my VOTE. Donna Gilman RN (INJURED WORKERS OF NEW YORK)
